We founded this group for one reason: to bring together people in Chicagoland with an interest in creating their own games.

I stumbled across your site and wondered if you willl be having another meetup. I noticed you are not part of meetup.com. Are you only using facebook? I wanted to ask about and get some opinions on the acedemic game development programs in the chicago area.

We have this blog & the Facebook group, and also a mailing list but we don’t use meetup.com to organize or announce meetings.
A lot of folks who come to the meetups are either teachers or students in the area so I’m sure you could make some connections there. In particular, we are hosted by DePaul University. Also some folks are or were students at Columbia College in their game development program.
The next meetup will be sometime in mid December. We don’t keep them to a regular schedule, instead we just check in with participants at each one to determine when the next one should be. The best ways to know when the next meetup is scheduled are to subscribe to this blog or join the Facebook group.

This is so cool, I am about to get into the indie gaming firm knowing basically some Java and alot of C++. I always wondered where the rest of us developers were at.

Thank you for the info. I am currently looking at the DePaul Program and wanted to get opinions. Its kind of a new field and the curriculum of some schools seem experimental as if fleshing out programs. Looking forward to Dec. meetup.
