Greetings, intrepid indies and indie fans! We’re gearing up for another exciting meeting of Indie City Games, and boy am I elated about what we have planned.
This month’s meeting is going to be the Meeting of the Mortem–post-mortem, that is. We have three intriguing post-mortems lined up:
- Bit Bash Post-Mortem! Jamie Sanchez and her tireless band of organizers will get up to tell us about the process of putting together Bit Bash, Chicago’s first proper indie games festival (happening on September 6th).
- Codemancer Kickstarter Post-Mortem! Rob Lockhart recently broke the existing record for money raised on Kickstarter by a Chicago indie dev; he is going to give us a detailed breakdown of what he did, and how it worked.
- 1849 Post-Mortem! Developer Robert Zubek is going to tell us about the development and marketing of historical city-building sim 1849, which managed to make it through Greenlight onto Steam despite its presence on mobile platforms.
I expect we’ll have a lunch break in there somewhere, and we’ll do our usual video game open mic and open play / mingling as well. Don’t forget to bring a laptop with the latest build of your game, and don’t forget to show up on time–open mic sign-up is at the start of the meeting!
See you all September 20th!
